• About the Program (CIP Code 46.9999)


    A student in the Building Construction program will be introduced to careers in the commercial and residential building industry. The student will receive training in carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing and touch on welding and fabrication skills with emphasis on residential applications. The active participation in theory and practical work results in the yearly construction of a complete modular home on the BCAVTS campus.

    Framing of floor, wall, and roof systems
    Installation of windows and doors
    Installation of cabinetry, trim, interior and exterior finishes
    Installation of fiberglass and asphalt shingle
    Installation of flashing
    Hanging and finishing drywall
    Installation of drain/waste systems
    Installation of fresh water supply systems
    Installation of residential electrical systems
    Laying brick and block
